Course Description

Sandplay is a projective technique that can be used very effectively with children across the age spectrum. It is a modality that uses touch in the sand to reach the limbic system in the brain where our emotions are being processed. Through use of figurines, these thoughts and deeper emotions are then projected onto the sand. The client is simply “playing”, yet the subconscious emotional depths are at work.

Sandplay also holds promise to develop sequencing, planning, and construction through visual spatial organization, as it also supports the imagination to develop in support of working memory, reading comprehension, building stories for written expression.

It is truly a tool with multiple facets. To be fully trained and certified is an extensive process. In this workshop  Maude will provide a taste of how she applies this modality in her practice as an occupational therapist. This a great tool for anxious clients, for clients who are traumatized by their diagnosis and developmental delay. The necessity of building an ego strength to overcome difficulties is not to be understated in clients struggling with developmental delay. Discover a tool that is truly powerful in multiple different ways!

Speaker

Maude Le Roux, OTR/L is an international speaker considering a wide array of topics pertaining development in children across the age spectrum. Even as she travels and trains extensively, she continues to operate a pediatric practice in Glen Mills, PA.

Maude designs her own courses, as well as trains for other organizations such as ICDL (DIR/Floortime) globally. She serves on the Board for ATTACh to develop the consideration of attachment and trauma in the work of occupational therapists. She has been involved in Sandplay work since 2014 and has completed multiple workshops related to Sandplay.

Maude “re-energizes” as she teaches and inspires her listeners to feel the importance of the work they do. She co-authored a book, “Our Greatest Allies” with Lauren O’Malley, available on Amazon.com. Her mantra: ‘If a child could, he / she would!”

Disclosure: Maude Le Roux receives a speaking fee for her presentation and is owner of the clinic A Total Approach. She has no relevant non-financial relationships to disclose.

"With the huge variety of courses I have attended and taught throughout my professional life (33 years), I find listening to Maude is really special, informative, and enjoyable."
