About this Course

Course Description

Sandplay is a projective technique that can be used very effectively with children across the age spectrum. It is a modality that uses touch in the sand to reach the limbic system in the brain where our emotions are being processed. Through use of figurines, these thoughts and deeper emotions are then projected onto the sand. The client is simply “playing”, yet the subconscious emotional depths are at work.

Sandplay also holds promise to develop sequencing, planning, and construction through visual spatial organization, as it also supports the imagination to develop in support of working memory, reading comprehension, building stories for written expression.

It is truly a tool with multiple facets. To be fully trained and certified is an extensive process. In this workshop Maude will provide a taste of how she applies this modality in her practice as an occupational therapist. This a great tool for anxious clients, for clients who are traumatized by their diagnosis and developmental delay. The necessity of building an ego strength to overcome difficulties is not to be understated in clients struggling with developmental delay. Discover a tool that is truly powerful in multiple different ways!
