About this Course
Course Description
This course is a 3.5-hour online continuing education (CE) course that teaches communication skills for use with young clients and for parents to use with their own children.
Healthy professional and personal relationships rely heavily on effective and respectful communication skills. Professionals and parents can benefit from enhancing their repertoire of communication techniques to improve the quality of relationships with families and children who have communication skills deficits. The competent use of language can increase young clients’ self-esteem, motivate them to learn, engage their willing cooperation, defuse power struggles, and teach conflict resolution skills.
The purpose of this course is to teach clinicians and parents effective and practical communication and conversational skills to use in the classroom, in one-on-one situations, at home with children and their families. Using these strategies, participants will be better prepared to manage difficult situations conversations, creating a more peaceful work or home life.

Adina Soclof, MS., CCC-SLP
Parent Educator, Adina Soclof teaches parents and professionals the art of effective communication at home and in school. She offers strategies that support character development, confidence, and resilience in children of all ages and abilities.
Adina’s professional development workshops guide teachers and other professionals to create safe spaces where children learn and grow.
Her live and online parenting classes give moms and dads the language and strategies to create a nurturing and structured home environment. Find her blog at www.ParentingSimply.com.
A Certified Speech Pathologist, Adina received her BA in History at Queens College and her MS in Communication Sciences at Hunter College.
